Pastor’s Letter

Dear Friends,

Welcome to Bible Center! We’ve prayed all week for today’s service to inspire and strengthen your faith. Please make yourself at home.

Our vision is to be for the gospel and for the city. What does that kind of church look like? What’s it known for in the community? How does it pray for its community? What impact does it make on leadership, government, culture, business, family life, and recreation?

Thankfully, Jesus has given us a detailed blueprint in the book of 1st Timothy. Through the Apostle Paul almost 2,000 years ago, God wrote this letter to Timothy, the young pastor of the church in Ephesus. Paul believed that the city of Ephesus was a strategic crossroads for reaching the entire region, so he gave detailed instructions for how to construct a tactical outpost for heaven.

Likewise, I’m convinced Charleston is a strategic crossroads for our state, and perhaps, for the entire region of Appalachia. Half of America’s population is within a day’s drive! Imagine what God could do with a church like ours, should we fully understand the gospel and its ethical implications for our lives, our church, and our city.

Today we begin an 11-week, verse-by-verse series through the book of 1 Timothy, Blueprints of a Healthy Church. Be inspired by Jesus’ good news, the gospel, and its power to transform us from the inside out!
