Plane trouble forces Bush to miss church in West
Virginia
Charleston, West Virginia-AP -- President
Bush says he had a good excuse for missing
church this morning -- engine trouble on Air
Force One. Another plane was sent to take him
to West Virginia from near Camp David, Maryland.
Bush told a crowd at West Virginia's
state Capitol that he had planned to start the
day at Charleston's Bible Center Church.
The president said he regretted missing
Pastor Shawn Thornton's sermon, but he thanked
Thornton for meeting him at the Capitol.
Bush also praised Bible Center Church's
outreach programs for the poor and needy.
