School Closing Policy

The following information is for the Bible Center School and Preschool. Snow days are challenging for everyone and each year adds its own unique touch! Here is how to get the latest information if Bible Center School is closed due to weather.

Please note that Bible Center Preschool may remain open even if the School closes. If the Preschool closes due to weather, notifications will specify that the Preschool is closed.

If Inclement Weather Occurs… The decision to close school will be made and announced as soon as possible when inclement weather occurs. The decision for school closing will be made by or before 6:00 AM. Public announcements will be made as follows:

	1. School Answering Machine If school is closed for inclement weather, messages will be posted on the church and school phone system by or before 6:00 A.M. Call 346-0431 and press 2. You will then be directed to the school information line. Calling the school may be the quickest way for most parents to receive this information.

	2. News Media Radio stations that will be contacted include: WCHS-580AM, WQBE, WBSR, WBES. Television stations that will be contacted include: WOWK, WCHS, and WSAZ. *Please note that television stations may choose not to list businesses, daycares, and churches at the bottom of the screen, and only list them on their web sites.

	3. Internet http://wvde.state.wv.us/closings/private/biblecenter/

	4. Recorded Message In addition to making public notices on local media, using church voice mail, and posting on web sites, each parent will receive a recorded courtesy call if school is closed. We must have current phone numbers on file for this procedure to work well If you have caller ID, the name HyperReach will be displayed as the caller.

Morning Delays Bible Center School and Preschool do not schedule two hour delays. These delays are usually for the risk of school buses being on the roads during bad weather conditions and high traffic. Kanawha County Closings Bible Center School does not follow Kanawha County Closings. Early Dismissal At times, Kanawha County Schools will dismiss early during the school day. Bible Center’s policy is that we do not dismiss early once school is underway. Our regular dismissal time is the same - 3:00 PM. If weather becomes a problem in your area after the school day begins, please feel free to pick up your child or children early and they will be excused.
