First Grade: Mathematics
Students will work in seventeen selected areas of math. The areas include: counting, number writing, reading numbers, place value, addition and subtraction, problem solving, money, geometry, logical thinking, graphs, calendar, measurement (through rulers, clocks, fractions, temperature, liquids and solids, and multiplication.) Some of the areas will be newly introduced, some will be reinforced to build on what was introduced in Kindergarten, and in some areas mastery will be expected. Weekly tests on content areas, flash cards for addition and subtraction, and speed drills for addition and subtraction will be used as evaluation tools.
