Third Grade: Reading
Reading is the foundation for all subjects a student will have. The main emphasis is to develop a love of literature using student ability to use word- recognition skills and context clues. Comprehension is taught through literal, interpretive and critical thinking. Students gain greater reading independence through individual and group work as well as silent and oral reading.
