Welcome to church!
“Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast.” -William Shakespeare
We designed today’s service with cheer and hospitality in mind. From the singing, to the teaching, to the partaking of communion, to the celebrating of baptisms… We want every part of the morning to feel like a family feast.
First, today concludes our 11-part series walking through the book of 1 Timothy. The parting words in this short book challenge us with gratitude, thanksgiving, and generosity.
Furthermore, we’ll celebrate baptisms and communion. Jesus gave us both traditions to remind us of His perfect life, dreadful death, and glorious resurrection. For millennia, baptism and communion have stirred God’s people to grateful worship.
Finally, I’ll conclude today’s message with an opportunity for you to record blessings for which you’re thankful. On the cards provided, please write down anything that comes to your mind, and drop it in the offering basket as it’s passed at the end of the service. This week we’ll combine all the cards into one huge display for us all to enjoy next Sunday.
“Put your hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Do good, be rich in good deeds, and be generous. In this way you will lay up treasure for yourself as a firm foundation for the coming age.” -1 Timothy 6:17-19 adapted
