At the end of today’s sermon, we’ll celebrate God’s grace at the Remote Area Medical Clinic recently hosted at Bible Center School. Through the leadership of Angie Settle at West Virginia Health Right, the generosity of the Kanawha Valley, and the sacrificial service of so many of you, this year’s clinic was another success.
Six hundred volunteers served 775 patients needing free dental, vision, and medical services. These services totaled $288,231.00 in free care that patients otherwise would not be able to access.
It’s hard to describe how I felt while visiting the event. One little girl told our volunteers about how she views a normal trip to the dentist: “My mom drives me to a parking lot in the middle of the night. We sleep in our car with lots of blankets and get up early to be first in line.” Another gentleman said, “I woke up at 4 AM and walked here to get new glasses. I can’t afford them on my own.”
Why do we host events like this? Because we believe every good work is a living billboard to a more beautiful story of salvation and restoration when God makes all things new. Giving a little girl a healthier smile and an elderly man his sight is a tangible way to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
With you for the gospel and for the city,
