Pastor’s Letter

Dear Friends,

Welcome to church! I pray 2019 proves to be your deepest, most spiritually satisfying year yet.

Could you use some good news? Most of us could. The snow-covered West Virginia hills are among the most picturesque in the nation; however, without snow, January can feel like the surface of the moon here in the mountain state. If you’re tempted to find this season depressing for any reason, this new sermon series is for you.

Over the next 5 Sundays, I pray you’ll be inspired by the most thrilling news ever… The gospel of Jesus! Today we’ll start at the beginning and see that the creation story is essential to the gospel story. In the following weeks, we’ll be reminded that even though we feel sin’s effects every day, God has made a way to save, transform, and restore our hearts, our church, and our world.

Don’t miss out on this series! Learn the 10 words that will change your life, mature your faith, renovate your relationships, alter your world view, and secure your destiny:

  • God Creates / Today
  • Sin Breaks / January 13
  • Jesus Saves / January 20
  • Jesus Transforms / January 27
  • God Restores / February 3 (Baptism Sunday)

Whether you’re recovering from a difficult 2018 or eagerly launching into 2019, I pray this will be a year to remember for you, your family and your spiritual journey!

With you for the gospel and for the city…

For anyone interested in being baptized, the next baptism class will be Sunday, Jan. 20, at 6 PM in Room 3101/02. Please register for the class and bring a photo (paper or digital) or be prepared to have one taken. The next baptism service is Feb. 3.

Have you ever asked: Does God hear me when I pray? • Why should I pray? • Does God really want to spend time with me? • Is everyone as distracted as I am when they pray? • Why isn’t God answering my prayers?

Prayer changes everything: us, our church, and our city! Learn how to view prayer in light of your relationship with God, what hinders prayer, and how God answers prayer.

Register by Monday, Jan. 7 to ensure adequate materials are available and to enroll for child care (up to 4 years old).
