The lights illuminating the dance floor Friday night were bright, but the glow of the guests taking to the red carpet beamed even brighter. The Bible Center Church community along with Chick-Fil-A and the Charleston Police Dept. hosted the second annual Celebrate Charleston special needs prom Friday evening.

Hundreds came to dance the night away and get their chance to shine.

“There is no feeling like standing at the end of our red carpet,” Senior pastor Matt Friend said. “When you watch them step on and hear these people cheering for them they smile, laugh or sometimes cry. This is a chance for us to roll out the red carpet for the people of Charleston and say ‘we love you and we want to bless you.'”

Megan Hensley spent her evening enjoying the music and a great time at Bible Center Church.

“I super love it because I get to see my friends here,” Hensley said. “I love the red carpet. I feel like a movie star.”

The event was free for everyone to attend, organizers hope the prom grows in attendance each year.
