Pastor’s Letter

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our Online Church Campus! Whether you are a member, regular attender, or first-time guest… we’re so glad you’re finding connection here. I pray today’s service inspires and strengthens your faith.

We’re continuing our series titled, “The Final Word on Fear.” Each sermon is from the Gospel of Mark which records the true story of Jesus as told by Simon Peter, dictated to and edited by John Mark. Over and over again throughout the book, Mark tells about Jesus calming someone’s fears; and I’ll be re-telling one of those true stories today.

Today’s message is simple, really. I’ll tell the story and leave us with one big idea to remember long after the sermon concludes.

If you’re reading this note prior to hearing the sermon, let me encourage you to read through Mark 5:21-43, over and over again, while allowing the events to unfold in your imagination.

  • What did the main characters see, hear, smell, and feel?
  • What might it have been like to walk in their shoes (or sandals J)?
  • How was their situation similar to our current COVID-19 situation?
  • What do we learn about Jesus?
  • What is faith, anyway?

Is there a specific friend or family member that you can invite to watch with you? Consider referring them (via text, social media, or email) to the many resources at the bottom of our series page. Each message and daily 9:Online devotional shines Jesus’ hope on our doubts, fears, anxieties, and discouragements associated with this crisis.

Above all, let’s hear the words of Jesus, “Stop being afraid. Keep believing.”

Choosing with you to believe the story of faith over fear,

Matt Friend • Senior Pastor
