Pastor’s Letter

Dear Bible Center family & friends,

Welcome to church! Thanks for visiting in person or tuning in online or on TV.

This Sunday we are honored to host Dr. Gregg Allison, one of Pastor Matt and Mike’s favorite professors at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he has taught since 2003.

Dr. Allison is one of the world’s premier scholars—both in Systematic and Historical Theology. His decades of experience also include teaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, serving as a Campus Crusade (Cru) missionary in Italy, and leading as secretary of the Evangelical Theological Society.

Thankfully, he is deeply connected to his local church, serving as a lay pastor (elder) at Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY.

Dr. Allison’s books are being used in churches and seminaries around the world to shape pastors, missionaries, and entire congregations. His books include:

  • 50 Core Truths of the Christian Faith
  • Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine
  • Sojourners and Strangers: The Doctrine of the Church
  • Roman Catholic Theology and Practice: An Evangelical Assessment
  • The Unfinished Reformation: What Unites and Divides Catholics and Protestants after 500 Years
  • The Baker Compact Dictionary of Theological Terms
  • The Holy Spirit (Theology for the People of God)

His favorite credentials include being a husband to Nora, father, and grandfather. When he’s not behind a lectern, it’s common to see Gregg in a Chicago Bears sweatshirt playing with his grandkids.

Let’s open our hearts to what he will teach us from God’s Word this weekend!

Learning with you,

Matt Friend • Lead Pastor

P.S. For everyone’s safety, we’ll use the same pre-packaged communion format that we’ve used throughout the pandemic. Be sure to pick up yours at the worship center doors.
