Dear Bible Center family & friends,
Welcome to church! Thanks for visiting on campus, online, or on TV.
This weekend we continue our 14-week “Wholly Transformed” series, walking verse by verse through the New Testament book of James. Two weeks ago, I began with an introductory message titled, “Transformed Through Suffering” from James 1:1-18. Pastor Mike preached another introductory message last weekend titled, “Transformed by God’s Word” from 1:19-27.
Beginning this weekend, the next 12 messages address 12 different ways Jesus wants to transform us. The first area can be found in James 2:1-13 from which I’ll bring a message titled, “Transformed Through Mercy.”
James begins chapter 2 with, “My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism” (v. 1). His words sound a lot like Jesus’ words, “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” (Matthew 5:46-47).
Are we ever tempted to show favoritism toward a certain group of people at work, at church, or in our neighborhoods… while consciously (or subconsciously) ignoring another group of people? If we’ve been in the church for a long time, are we ever tempted to use a Bible verse (out of context) to justify our lack of hospitality or love for a specific person?
In today’s message, James will not only teach us how to identify the problem; he’ll also give us the key to solving the problem, once and for all.
Transforming with you,
News & Events
Spiritual growth takes place when the Holy Spirit uses the Word, His people, and prayer to infiltrate and influence our lives.
Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) create an environment for us to commit to this process of growth and transformation in Christ together.
The D-Group Journal was designed to be a simple tool to help small groups facilitate connecting with one another, studying the Bible, and memorizing Scripture.
Pick up your journal this weekend, grab some friends, and get started!
Weekend Conference with Gregg and Nora Allison
February 11-12 | Child care provided | At Bible Center, we talk much about the written Word of God; however, have you ever wondered what role the Holy Spirit plays in our transformation? What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit? What must we do to be filled with the Spirit? How can we walk in the Spirit with our families, friends, colleagues, and neighbors? Dr. Gregg and Nora Allison will answer those questions for us this weekend, both through their teaching and stories from life, family, and ministry.
Registration is free; however, we want to have plenty of seats and refreshments for you.
