Middle School Ministry

Sundays

9:15 AM | Group hour | First Floor
Sunday mornings are geared toward equipping MSM students with the teaching and biblical literacy that are essential to their relationship with Jesus. These are taught with practical life applications that relate to the situations MSM students may encounter in their daily lives.

11:00 AM | Worship hour | Auditorium
Students are encouraged to attend service in the auditorium or find a place to serve. If you’re interested in serving, talk to Jake to learn more!

Wednesdays

6:00-7:30 PM | Church Campus (Through May 20)
Our Wednesday night programs are designed to be a place of connection and discipleship. These nights are more laid back, with a heavy emphasis on small groups, making them the perfect way to get introduced to MSM. Students will connect through games and social time, followed by relational discipleship through worship, a short devotional, and small group time.

Jake Tanner

Director of Middle School Ministries

Jake grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan before attending Cedarville University, where he met his now wife, Kaleigh. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in biology, he moved to Charleston and began attending Bible Center, and he immediately got plugged into Middle School Ministries as a volunteer. God has used Jake’s own experiences growing up in youth ministry to create a passion for making a place where students can belong, have fun, learn, and grow into young adults who live their lives for God. After six years as a volunteer, Jake is excited to be the director of Middle School Ministries. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, watching hockey, and being in God’s creation.

Letter to 5th Grade Parents

We’d love to connect with you!

Our desire is two-fold:

  • To partner with families by providing an active youth group and resources for parents to successfully disciple their students throughout their middle school years.
  • To be a group that any middle school student in Kanawha valley can feel welcomed and challenged to grow in their faith. Through fun games, crazy activities, relevant lessons, and by providing opportunities for students to use and grow the gifts we want the middle school years to be a memorable time that builds a great foundation for the future.
