Pastor’s Letter

Dear Friends,

Welcome to church!

Have you ever attended an outdoor baptism? It’s an extraordinary experience. Situated not far from our campus, in the Middle Fork of Davis Creek, two of our members (Chuck and Rachel Kinder) host the perfect spot in their back yard. From waterfalls to babbling brooks, from cliffs to hillsides covered in a sea of greenery… it’s a gorgeous place to be baptized!

Next Sunday, September 8th, we’ll gather there at 2:30 PM for our fourth annual outdoor baptism as multiple men, women and children go public with their faith.

Why is baptism so important? The practice is thousands of years old, and Jesus calls all true believers to participate (Matthew 28:19). The New Testament, especially the Book of Acts, highlights thousands of people deciding to follow Jesus and being baptized soon thereafter.

Baptism illustrates an eternal truth—just as Jesus died, was buried, and rose again—the one being baptized goes under the water and rises to declare, “I believe this message. Jesus is Lord!”

Have you been baptized? If not, please let me know your interest immediately after today’s service. I’ll be at the front (near the stage) with baptism packets available so you can take the information home and pray about it. If you’re pressed for time, you can also pick up a packet from Jane (at the Connect Table near the fireplace) on your way out.

It would be a joy to baptize you next Sunday!

Much love…

Matt Friend • Senior Pastor
